Christoph has more than 25 years of prime transactional experience gained in Frankfurt, London and Paris, both in private practice and in-house.
Before founding MAURER LAW he was managing partner of Pinsent Masons France and president of Marccus Partners/Mazars Avocats. Prior to that he practised as partner at Rödl & Partner and associate at Allen & Overy and Linklaters. In between he was general counsel of Mubea Group and of Valeo Climate Control.
He has been involved in all aspects of domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and group reorganisations. Further, he has extensive expertise in competition matters, mainly merger control but also cartel investigations.
His deal background covers in particular the industrial sectors automotive, aerospace and, more generally, technology. In the past, he has advised on numerous transactions in the areas telecommunications, energy, chemicals and financial services.
His clients include large multinational corporations, medium-sized companies, entrepreneurs, and consultancy firms as well as banks, funds and investors, whom he advises on a wide variety of corporate, commercial and finance matters.
Christoph is also recognised as an expert on art law and advises particularly on restitution claims and export regulations of cultural goods. In his fields of expertise, he is regularly retained as counsel or arbitrator in international arbitration proceedings.
During his studies in Germany, Switzerland, the UK, the US and France, Christoph obtained two master of laws degrees (Georgetown University/Washington DC and Panthéon-Assas University/Paris 2), both state exams in law (Heidelberg University and State Supreme Court Berlin) as well as a doctorate in law (Heidelberg University).
